I grew up in a Maryland suburb called Crofton which is nearly in the center of the geographic triangle made up of Baltimore, Annapolis
(Maryland’s capital) and Washington D. C.. This was really nice because I had easy access to 3 vastly different cities the closest of which was Annapolis.
When I got to the point in my life where I could do some exploring of these cities on my own and with friends I fell in love with Annapolis. Not only was it beautiful but you were able to enjoy everything Annapolis had to offer simply by walking, we would drive there, park our car and do all that we wanted for the next several hours by just using our feet. At the time I did not realize how I would come to appreciate the simple joy of walking and using my own body to get places. One of the things that I enjoy about walking to get places is the speed of it, or lack there of. Slowly getting from place to place allows one to see all the beauty that is all around us.
I recieved my B.S. in Electronic Media and Film from Towson University which is in Towson, MD, about 5 minutes above Baltimore. Downtown Towson also has sort of a small town kind of feel which further expanded my love of walking to get places. It is also the first place I really explored going barefoot, I would spend days barefoot, I would go to class, walk around campus and all over the city without my shoes on. In retrospect I realize it was kind of silly and maybe little dangerous, but I loved it, loovveeed it, which is why I am so happy that I have found the Vibram Five Fingers. The Five Fingers allow me to walk around everywhere nearly barefoot and be safe and even enter retail establishment’s.
Towson University is also where I got to know my wife better, Michelle and I actually met in High School but we did not start dating until both of our senior years at Towson. I have always thought she was beautiful, but it was the time we spent together at college that I was able to see her true beauty is her amazing ability to care about nature and people with a deepness that is unparalleled. I am so happy that she decided to marry me on July 6, 2007 at our wonderful church in Davis Square, Somerville, MA which is where we currently live, about 3 miles outside of Boston. Davis Square, Cambridge and Boston is where I finally realized how much I love being able to get places without a car. It is also where I have started biking again, the first time since I was young. I know bike about 60 miles a week during my commute to work when it is warm enough.
Michelle and I are both Vegan which means we don’t use, wear or eat anything that comes from animals, this includes, milk, eggs, cheese, cow milk ice cream, leather, silk, honey, wool, butter, meat, etc. I chose to be Vegan because I believe that it is right to choose a life of peace and compassion and one of the only ways I feel this is possible is to live cruelty free in every decision, including what I eat and wear. Being Vegan has opened up a new world of compassion to me, it is hard to explain how it makes me feel, I feel more at ease knowing that my day to day life causes as little harm as possible on others.
I currently work at Boston University’s School of Medicine as an Instructional Media Specialist. My main role is taking care of all of the media needs of the professors that are teaching the first year medical students. I love my job, the people I work with are fantastic, it is close enough for me to be able to bike to work, and it gives me plenty of time to be at home with my family, Michelle and our cat Ella. I am also currently working towards a Masters Degree in Educational Media and Technology at Boston University.
I love life, I love living, I love simplicity, I love movies, I love movie theaters, I love my wife, I love walking, I love being peaceful, I love biking, and I want to share, so enjoy the site.
